I flow.
Psychologists refer to a ‘flow state’ as the performing of an activity fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement and enjoyment in the process. I want to stay close to this place, and help you get in touch with yours.
I live to be intentionally present. Professionally as a massage therapist, and leisurely as a surfer, yogi, dancer and traveler I emphasize physical health, mental peace and growth, joy, and loving human relationships. It has been wondrous to get to know myself through this work, and observe how massage influences my relationships with my friends, my clients, and myself.
Emerging as a water polo athlete and biology scholar from UCLA, I began my bodywork career in 2002. After first being inspired by the human potential movement at Esalen Institute in 2005, I devoted myself to becoming exceptional at my craft. Over the next 10 years at Esalen I experienced the synthesis of psychology, spirituality, art and conscious movement; the lineages of Gestalt, Aldous Huxley, Ida Rolf, Joseph Campbell, Gabrielle Roth, and Alan Watts among others. Bodywork there is infused with the crashing, rhythmic waves of the ocean and the consideration of intentionally expanding consciousness. It is, as a first time client once put it, ‘So much more than rubbing!’ I sought the finest teachings and instructors, received copious amounts of massage, and have prioritized keeping my spirit, body and mind supple and strong to support the physical and emotional demands of this sacred work.
I research the latest information in diet, peak performance and psychology; continuing to integrate my life and career. After healing an injury through yoga in 2006 I realized the gifts of this practice, it is a cousin to massage. I then became a certified yoga instructor after extended programs with master teachers Saul David Raye and Shiva Rea. After teaching publicly for 7 years I commonly integrate yoga stretches in my sessions and share the mental and spiritual practices with my clients. Very recently I completed the book ‘Mastery’ by George Leonard, and it resonated with how I devote myself to my practices; a daily focus on intentionally practicing and valuing all of life’s activities.
In flow I am at my best. I am supporting myself and sharing my gifts. Massage allows me a finer understanding of my body and soul. My decisions become clearer and my energy is replenished. Massage diffuses the static, brings me home to my body, and affirms my secure place in the world. I’d be honored to bring you back into your body and help you find your flow.
